Murder Conviction Overturned After 17 Years

Obie Anthony was accused of fatally shooting a Mexican immigrant outside a South Los Angeles brothel in 1994. He was convicted the following year along with his friend Reggie Cole.  Laurie Levenson, law professor, and her team of students with Project for the Innocent worked on Anthony’s case for three and a half years.  No evidence tied Anthony to the murder and the prosecution’s star witness, a pimp, lied to the jury.  Anthony says he always kept the faith that justice would be served.
