Ohio: Voter Suppression Bill

In June of 2011, Ohio passed a voter suppression bill that, among other things, requires ID and proof of citizenship, cuts early and absentee voting, and disallows poll workers to help you fill out your ballot.  Ohio isn’t the only state. In essence, you will need a government-issued ID to vote.  They will NOT accept student IDs.  Disproportionately, many low socioeconomic residents don’t have government-issued IDs.  We are truly going backwards as a country.  Why are legislators trying to deny our constitutional right for millions of Americans to vote.  I can’t help but think how difficult and intimidating it was for African Americans to vote after the 15th Amendment, leading up to the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Check to see if your state passed this legislation.
