I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I am against the death penalty. There is nothing humane about this treatment.
Derrick Mason is convicted of killing Angela Cagle during a robbery of a convenience store in 1994. Judge Loyd Little asked that Mason life be spared because his crime was not worse than other criminals where the death penalty was not the outcome. He is scheduled to die by lethal injection Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 6 pm. He is awaiting on a last minute appeal with the Alabama Supreme Court.
Troy Davis isn’t the only one. Black males are incredibly disenfranchised when it comes to this judicial system. Regardless of the crime, we are more likely to receive a harsher punishment.
